Meet new board member Trevor Fleege
Tell us about yourself and your involvement with sustainability.
I currently work as the Director of Milk Procurement at Agropur, working with over 300 farms across the country. I have spent my career in the dairy industry, having experience in production agriculture, processing, and the CPG food industry. Those experiences have given me a perspective on the importance of the dairy industry as a whole and how it continues to become more sustainable.
Tell us why you are committed to Farmers for Sustainable Food and what it means to your organization or farm.
I believe agriculture, and in particular dairy farming, has always worked to become more sustainable, largely through efficiency gains and conservation. A lot of progress has already been made, and I think it is important for the industry to both tell that story as well as point to the opportunities to become more sustainable in the future. Dairy offers many great nutritious products to consumers, and aligning both a nutritious product offering as well as meeting consumers’ expectations around sustainability, I believe, will unlock even more growth for the industry.
What are you looking forward to the most in your role as an FSF board member?
I look forward to the opportunity to learn and collaborate with other members of the FSF board and the dairy community, as we all work to become more sustainable together.
