Meet new board member Jeremy Heim
Tell us about yourself and your involvement with sustainability.
I am an owner of Heim’s Hillcrest Day and Heim Brothers Custom, LLC., in Algoma, Wis. I work directly with other dairy farms in our area, providing services such as hauling liquid nutrients, chopping hay and corn and providing hoof trimming. Recently, we added to our business to provide excavation services and ag drone applications. While working together with other farms in the area, we strive to be a leader in sustainability among the dairies in the county. Additionally, I work closely with local government agencies to be sustainable stewards of the land.
What farmer-led group are you involved in, and what do you enjoy about the group?
I’m a member of Peninsula Pride Farms in Door and Kewaunee Counties. I’m also a member of WI Custom Operating, Proficient Nutrient Applicators of WI and Kewaunee County Dairy Promotions. I enjoy working to be better and learning from others around the state to help come up with solutions.
Tell us why you are committed to Farmers for Sustainable Food and what it means to your organization or farm.
I am eager to help change the misconception surrounding the dairy industry and present it in a positive light. It would be a privilege to bring back new ideas to my dairy and collaborate on effective solutions. Our primary goal is to enhance sustainability, as this aligns with our company’s mission.
What are you looking forward to the most in your role as an FSF board member?
I look forward to meeting new people and industry leaders. I also look forward to bringing back ideas to my family business and sharing insights with local leaders.
