Farmers for Sustainable Food elects three board members at Annual Meeting
GREEN BAY, Wis. — Members of Farmers for Sustainable Food elected three directors to its board during the group’s annual meeting today at the 2024 Dairy Strong conference.
The three board members:
- Mike Berget of Berget Family Farms in Wiota, Wis., was re-elected to a new, three-year term representing the Lafayette Ag Stewardship Alliance and serving as vice president. Berget also serves on the National Corn Growers Association’s Sustainable Ag Research Action Team and the U.S. Grains Council’s Innovation and Sustainability Advisory Team. He farms approximately 11,000 acres using solely strip-till or no-till conservation strategies.
- Mark Loehr of Loehr Dairy in Mount Calvary, Wis., was elected to represent the Sheboygan River Progressive Farmers. Loehr is a lifetime farmer committed to conservation and improvement. He farms approximately 1,000 acres of crops and has approximately 500 dairy cattle with his brother Joe Loehr. They utilize a variety of conservation practices, including cover crops and no-till farming. Loehr replaced Jeff Endres of Endres Berryridge Farms in Waunakee, Wis., who served on the board for the past three years representing Yahara Pride Farms.
- Holly Jones was re-elected to represent Agropur as a general member of FSF. Jones is a leader in sustainability, serving as the director of global sustainability for Agropur, one of North America’s largest dairy processing companies. Jones was re-elected to a new, three-year term.
In addition, changes were made to all other board officer positions. Paul Cornette of Cornette Dairy in Luxemburg, Wis., and a member of Peninsula Pride Farms is president; Lee Kinnard of Kinnard Farms in Casco, Wis., is treasurer; and Lynn Thornton of Grande Cheese is secretary.
Other board members: Todd Doornink of Jon-De Farm in Baldwin, Wis., and a member of Western Wisconsin Conservation Council; and Holly Bellmund of GLC Minerals.
